School Supply & Backpack Donations
August is Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month and the time when our youth return to school. Each year, we provide free backpacks with school supplies to help ease the financial burden for families in need. Our goal this year is 500 backpacks!
Youth obtain these backpacks at our Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month Kick-Off through completing Cultural Passports where they learn more about the diverse and rich cultures of the different Pacific Islands. What better way to reward these children and their proactive approach to learning than with a backpack filled with the tools they need to succeed? Help us fulfill this year’s goal!

In 2012, Governor Gary Herbert officially declared August Utah Pacific Island Heritage Month.
This month is filled with events and activities to engage the Pacific Island community and celebrate the unique history of Pacific Islanders within Utah as well as the community’s contributions to the state.
This month is also an opportunity for the wider community to be educated and participate in the festivities that recognize the significance of the Pacific Islander community to Utah’s unique cultural ecosystem.
